Tyler Durden of Real Social Dynamics

Owen Cook (also known as “Tyler”, “Tyler Durden” or “TD”) (born in 1979 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada) is an entrepreneur, author and dating advisor. He is the figurehead of Real Social Dynamics, a company that specializes in teaching men how to establish a sexual relationship with women.

Tyler Durden joined the seduction community in 2002, assuming the handle ‘Tyler Durden’ in homage to the fictional character from the novel Fight Club. He traveled to Los Angeles in order to develop his skills at picking up and seducing women, eventually moving into a closet and using it as his bedroom in order to live with Neil Strauss, Barry Kirkey and Mystery at their mansion in Project Hollywood.

He is mentioned by Neil Strauss in his book The Game. In his book, Strauss describes his experience mentoring Owen and fellow student “Papa” (Nicholas Kho) while watching as he developed his own distinct approach to gaming in parallel and apparent competition to Strauss’s own. The book also describes the establishment of Real Social Dynamics by Cook and Papa, a company dedicated to teaching men how to interact with women.

In August 2008, Owen announced on his company blog that he was “wrapping up with [his] role as figurehead of RSD and moving into self help.” At the same time, Owen has continued to teach weekly Real Social Dynamics bootcamps in Los Angeles.  His company (often abbreviated RSD) is known for using natural game to attract women.  They are also known for other free content sites such as RSD Nation.

Born in Ottawa Canada (1979) and majored in philosophy at Queens University. Tyler Durden now lives and works in Honolulu Hawaii.  His life consists of managing Real Social Dynamics, writing “The Blueprint”, running bootcamps, going to the gym, reading everything under the sun, and surfing twice a week.  Although moving towards a self-help aspect in RSD, Tyler Durden is known as one of the founding fathers of the seduction industry.

Nick Savoy from Love Systems

Nick Savoy or Savoy is the pseudonym of Nicholas Benedict, a Canadian businessman, author, and dating coach. He is the President and Program Leader of Love Systems (formerly Mystery Method Corporation) and author of Magic Bullets.

Savoy was born in 1974 in St John’s, Canada and he received his B.A. from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In 2003 as an honor student he completed an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania. Savoy, as he is commonly referred to as, appeared in Neil Strauss’ The New York Times best-selling book The Game. By his own admission, Nick was unsuccessful with women before he found the seduction community in 2003. He moved to a new city for work after he broke up with his girlfriend. After trial and error he came up with a successful system for picking up women and he wanted to spread the word. In August 2004, Nick Savoy and Mystery jointly formed Mystery Method Corporation where both Nick Savoy and Mystery were instructors. The Mystery Method Corporation, now Love Systems, was the first company to have in field training where dating coaches (Mystery and Nick Savoy) train men how to attract and seduce women in bars and clubs.

In 2007, Savoy and Mystery were scheduled to appear together as dating coaches for the first season of the VH1 series “The Pickup Artist” but due to professional differences between the two, Nick Savoy did not appear. He helped design and develop the series and is listed as a consultant to the show.

Nick Savoy is the co-author of the Love Systems Routines Manual and released in 2007 his first book Magic Bullets, a reference manual for men learning how to pick up women.

Nick Savoy is President and Program Leader of Love Systems, formerly known as Mystery Method. In the beginning of 2008, Nick Savoy was featured on a Fox News broadcast and was interviewed for his method of teaching men a method of seduction. Fresno State professor and psychologist Mike Botwin concluded that the method of seduction based by Nick Savoy is based on biological and psychological mating principles. He also made an appearance on the TV show Dr. Phil episode “Women Beware” aired in April 2008. In August 2008, he appeared on Spike TV providing dating advice for men. On July 17, 2009, he appeared on The Tyra Banks Show with Nick Braddock on the episode titled “The Secret Code of Men”.

James Matador from Venusian Arts

James Matador, a.k.a Matador, co-star of VH1′s The Pickup Artist, is an accomplished actor, businessman, and dating coach. A key player in the seduction community, he is counted amongst the best pick-up artists in the world. He is Mystery’s longtime friend and wingman, and is the co-founder of their company Venusian Arts. Prior to his involvement in the seduction community, James Matador studied Computer Science at Depaul University, obtaining his degree on 1997. He went on to work in the information technology industry, as well becoming an amateur body builder and competitive martial artist, winning Texas state and national championships in Taekwondo. Despite his successes in other aspects of his life, Matador still found the dating world to be quite a challenge. After many broken hearts, he purchased his first piece of material from the seduction community in 1999. Thus began a journey of serious self-improvement which ultimately ended up with him working with Mystery as a dating coach himself. In 2007 Matador Co-Founded the Venusian Arts with fellow business partners and friends Chris Odom (Lovedrop) and Erik Von Markovik (Mystery).

Matador has trained hundreds of men in the field of seduction, many of which have gone on to become top instructors for some of the worlds largest dating companies. He has taught live bootcamps and seminars all over the world, and has become a leading instructor in the Pick-Up Arts. He was also the first instructor (with the exception of Mystery himself) to lead his own LIVE programs. Matador is most notable for his “Matador Mayhem” technique, a process in which he allows himself to be chased by multiple women simultaneously by hugging, kissing, and making out with many women at the same time, causing all the women involved to feel jealous of one another and compete for his attention. His name has also become synonymous with the concepts of cave-manning (leading the physical escalation of an interaction in a confident and masculine way), and Alpha-Male body language (projecting the idea that one is the leader of the group their one’s body language) even though he did not create the terms themselves. Matador has been featured in a number of magazines, newspapers, and interviews, with some of the more notable features including CNN, the New York Times, and the Daily Show with John Stewart and held his first college seminar on February 13, 2007 at Yale University on the topic of social dynamics and dating. Matador starred and consulted on a reality series titled The Pick-up Artist, which debuted on August 6, 2007 on VH1. In the series, Mystery and his wingmen, Matador and JDOG, trained eight “lonely, socially inept” men in an eight week bootcamp in Austin, Texas to compete for the title of “Master Pick-Up Artist”. A second season debuted on October 12, 2008. Matador has been ranked as one of the Top 10 Pick-up Artists Of The Year on Thundercat’s Seduction Lair, as well as in TSB Magazine. Mystery himself has stated “If there is one guy I wouldn’t want to go up against, it would be Matador”.

David DeAngelo from Double Your Dating (DYD)

David DeAngelo is the pen name for Eben Pagan, a former student of Ross Jeffries and founder of Double Your Dating.  David DeAngelo is widely known throughout the seduction community for the cocky funny humor, mindset, and mentality that many other PUA companies use in their basic framework such as Love Systems, Venusian Arts, and ABCs of Attraction. Double Your Dating was founded in 2001 with the self titled Ebook, “Double Your Dating.”  The book was a commercial success and went on to be a staple of the many publications of the seduction community.

Neil Strauss mentions David DeAngelo in his book, “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists.”  He describes David as tall attractive guy who is know well for being cocky and funny.  David is known for using NLP tactics and speed seduction techniques learned from Ross Jeffries.  Today, he uses NLP tactics and more to sell self-improvement, inner game, and mindset products.  He is also known as a master internet marketer and commercial success.  David DeAngelo does not merely focus on just seduction.  He has branched off into an entire line of coaching, information products, and video series to help others not just in their social and romantic lives, but in their financial success as well.  Some of his products include GURU Master Class, the Altitude Training Program, Ignition, Wealth Mindset, and many more.

David DeAngelo has not been involved within the seduction community for some time, as he has moved on to much bigger and better things.  Even though he has moved on to different products and services, his book, Double Your Dating, still remains a masterpiece.  Under the DYD banner, David has several other dating products he still markets such as DVDs, interviews, books, and more.  He also has other coaches under his name such as Will H.

Ross Jeffries

Ross Jeffries (born Paul Jeffrey Ross on 20 September 1958) is a former comedy writer and the creator of “Speed Seduction,” a set of personal development writings and seminars that draw on Neuro-linguistic Programming and hypnotic techniques. Jeffries claims these methods help men understand women, particularly their motivations and psychology, in order to successfully pick up women. Ross’s current version of Speed Seduction focuses on techniques of moving ”energy” through the body and the practice of magick. His techniques and online persona have been the subject of some controversy.

Jeffries is said by independent review to have started the seduction community with his online posts. He was the first of the Seduction Community to create a website and usenet newsgroup. He also published books, CDs, videos and runs seminars on dating and self-improvement for men. Speed seduction is based on adaptations made by Jeffries to techniques found in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). The basis of the original Speed Seduction books and courses is the belief that in order for a person to interpret a story, question or any linguistic pattern they must first experience its content; for instance, asking someone “Have you ever been really attracted to someone?” will cause them to physically relive the experience of being attracted. The goal is to arouse women by guiding their emotional states by using language. This is said to put them in a connected or sexual state, similar to the experiences of women reading romance novels. Phonetic ambiguity (such as “your mind” vs “you’re mine”) and emotional anchoring are used. The concept is that by using “anchors” and “weasel phrases,” these positive states can be associated to oneself and negative emotions can be avoided. From that point on, Jeffries says the seducer can remind a woman of these emotional states by his appearance or touch.

Jeffries’ students and scrutineers have included the well-known dating coaches David DeAngelo and Neil Strauss. He was featured as a Pickup artist (PUA) in Strauss’ bestselling book The Game.

Neil Strauss aka Style

Neil Strauss is a professional pickup artist, founder of the Stylelife Academy, and writer of the New York Times Bestseller, “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists” where he describes his experiences in the seduction community in an effort to become “a pick-up artist.” He is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and also writes regularly for The New York Times.

After leaving The New York Times to ghostwrite Jenna Jameson’s memoirs, Strauss joined a sub-culture of pick-up artists known as the seduction community, publishing an article in the New York Times about his experiences in 2004.  In 2005, he published The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists (Regan Books, 2005), a book about his transformation into “Style”, a pickup artist under the tutelage of Mystery. In addition to documenting his experiences with pickup artists like Mystery, Steve P, Rasputin (Hypnotica) and Ross Jeffries, it also describes his seductive interactions with celebrities including Britney Spears  Tom Cruise, and Courtney Love. Strauss writes of his distrust of pickup artists “Tyler Durden” and “Papa”, the co-founders of Real Social Dynamics.

The book made a month-long appearance in the New York Times bestsellers list in September–October 2005, and reached the #1 position on Amazon.com immediately after its release in the United States. Strauss appeared on various TV shows, including The View and ABC Primetime, and he participated in many book signings. It was optioned to be made into a film by Spyglass Entertainment, with Chris Weitz adapting and producing.

After publishing the book, Strauss temporarily retired as a pickup artist and settled with a longtime girlfriend Lisa Leveridge, who played guitar in Courtney Love’s all-female band The Chelsea.

Strauss has continued to be involved with pick up artistry through his dating coaching company Stylelife Academy. Stylelife was founded in 2007 and whilst most of the coaching is done by employed coaches other than himself, Strauss does make appearances at yearly conferences and in some video products sold by the company.

Mystery aka Erik von Markovic from Venusian Arts

Mystery is known to be one of the top PUAs in the world and one of the founding fathers of the seduction community.  Mystery was one of the main characters in Neil Strauss‘s, The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists. and also had his own TV show on VH1 – “The Pickup Artist.”  He is credited with popularizing a few terms that he often uses, including “peacocking”, i.e., dressing to stand out, or having an item of clothing or an accessory that looks interesting, allowing the girl to comment on it if she is interested in starting a conversation; “cat-string theory,” i.e. keeping a woman engaged just enough to hold her attention; and the “neg”, a backhanded compliment.

In 2004, Mystery went into a partnership with fellow dating coach Nick Savoy to form Mystery Method Corporation. Mystery left to form his own company in December 2006, called Venusian Arts. Mystery Method Corporation continued on without him and has since changed its name to Love Systems

He is the co-author of The Mystery Method: How to Get Beautiful Women Into Bed, published by St. Martin’s Press and of The Pickup Artist: The New and Improved Art of Seduction was published by Villard in 2010. Before Mystery became known as a pickup artist, he was a professional magician.  In The Game, Strauss noted him for using many different magic tricks to surprise, entertain, and hook many of his targets while striking intrigue and attraction.

Other books published include Revelation, The Pickup Artist: The New and Improved Art of Seduction, and the Venusian Arts Handbook.  Mystery currently works closely with his Venusian Arts head coaches, Chris Odom (Lovedrop), James Matador, and Discovery.  He is currently residing in the United Kingdom in order to study the seduction arts further in the ever changing world of game.
